Xiaomi released its 500,000th car
The Chinese company Xiaomi, in just 602 days from the start of sales of its first car, shipped its landmark 500,000th electric car from the factory.
What is known
The milestone car was the YU7 crossover in the Max configuration, painted in emerald green and equipped with an optional carbon body kit. At a cost of about 362,900 yuan (approximately $51,000), the power of the all-wheel drive electric vehicle is 681 hp, and the range according to the Chinese cycle is 760 km.
Xiaomi debuted in the automotive industry with the SU7 sedan on March 28, 2024, and launched sales of the YU7 crossover on June 26, which became the main competitor to the Tesla Model Y.
According to the company, the current production capacity exceeds 350,000 cars per year. However, for some models, there is still a delivery queue. In particular, the waiting period for the YU7 crossover is from 32 to 38 weeks, and for the flagship SU7 Ultra, it is from 6 to 9 weeks.
According to Xiaomi Group President Lu Weibing's forecasts, by the end of the week, the company will fulfill its annual delivery plan of 350,000 cars, and by the end of 2025, it expects to deliver more than 400,000 cars. In the third quarter of this year, Xiaomi sold nearly 109,000 cars.
