Nothing OS 4.0 based on Android 16 released — firmware adds extra-dark theme, improved AI control, and stylish icons

The stable release of Nothing OS 4.0 based on Android 16 has occurred, with a phased rollout.
What is known
The Nothing OS 4.0 firmware is already available to Phone (3) owners and will spread to the entire line of Nothing smartphones (except Phone (1)) in the coming weeks, and by the end of the year, also to CMF smartphones. Phone (3a) Lite will be updated early next year.
Key innovations of Nothing OS 4.0:
- updated design: redesigned lock screen clocks, unified interface elements, and cleaner settings;
- Extra Dark Mode: an even deeper dark theme for eye comfort and energy savings, especially on OLED displays;
- Pop-up View: support for two floating app icons for convenient multitask mode;
- TrueLens Engine: improved camera and gallery with new presets and intuitive controls;
- AI control: transparent settings, status hints, and usage dashboard.
- system stability improved, app launch speed, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi operation, and the lock screen has become more responsive.
