Recently, two authoritative news agencies reported on Tim Cook's (Tim Cook) departure from the head of Apple. The first to report the change in leadership of the American corporation was insider Mark Gurman (Mark Gurman) from Bloomberg, and last week, the Financial Times confirmed that this will already happen in 2026, and John Ternus (John Ternus) — Apple's Vice President of hardware development will lead the company.

However, in the new issue of the weekly news digest Power On, Mark Gurman shared updated information about Apple's plans.

What is known

Contrary to his October announcement, Mark Gurman now claims that Tim Cook is not yet planning to leave the position of Apple CEO. According to current data, nothing indicates preparations for a “transfer of power” in one of the world's largest technology companies.

Moreover, Cook will remain Apple's head at least until the end of Donald Trump's presidential term (January 2029), unless something unexpected happens.

According to Bloomberg, Apple highly values Cook's merits and grants him the right to independently determine the timing of his departure from the responsible position.

However, Gurman did not specify why he ties Tim Cook's departure to Trump's presidential term, but it is no secret that they have warm friendly relations, and the experienced businessman knows how to approach Trump — just think of Cook's gift to Trump in the Oval Office.
