Google Assistant will disappear from Galaxy devices: it will be replaced by Gemini
Google is preparing to finally replace Google Assistant with Gemini – a next-generation AI-based digital assistant that was introduced by the company almost two years ago. Initially, it was integrated into new Galaxy devices, later into older smartphones, tablets, and watches. But a complete replacement has not yet occurred.
What is known
In the latest version of the Google app (v16.46.61), signs of radical changes were found: the phrases "Hey Google" and "Voice Match" in the settings have been replaced with "Talk to Gemini hands-free". Similar updates have appeared in the Gemini menu itself. This means that Google Assistant could be completely removed after March 2026.
On Samsung smartphones with One UI 7.0, Google Assistant has already been replaced by Gemini. For devices on older software (One UI 6.1.1 and below) that will not receive One UI 7.0, it is expected that Gemini will appear there via an app update.
