OpenAI updates ChatGPT Voice: voice mode now works in chat
OpenAI has introduced an update for ChatGPT's voice mode. Now it can be used without leaving the current chat. Users see a direct transcription of their voice and receive visual clues, such as maps, photos, and other images that match the conversation topic.
What is known
To start a voice dialogue, just click on the sound wave icon next to the input field. Instead of the previous separate interface, voice responses now appear in the message feed next to text queries.
In the demo video, for example, AI simultaneously shows a map of popular bakeries and photos of pastries from Tartine. The feature is already available to all users on the web version and in the mobile app. To activate it, you need to update the app. You can also return to the previous interface in the settings by selecting the "separate mode" option.
Integration of voice, text, and images has become a continuation of ChatGPT's multimodal development. OpenAI is aiming to compete with its rivals. For instance, Google in Gemini Live is experimenting with AI response visualization in video.
