High Praise for Lara Croft: the Tomb Raider Protagonist Entered the Guinness World Records Twice
Undoubtedly, Lara Croft is one of the most iconic and recognizable video game characters. The protagonist of Tomb Raider has remained relevant for over a quarter of a century, and now her achievements can also include being listed in the Guinness World Records. And twice at that!
What is known
The British aristocrat and adventurer set two world records! She became the “best-selling heroine” in the industry's history, as the titles featuring her have sold over 100 million copies. Furthermore, the Guinness World Records confirmed that Lara Croft has appeared on magazine covers 2300 times, including Newsweek, TIME, The Face, Entertainment Weekly, and other publications.
The studio Crystal Dynamics, which currently holds the rights to the franchise, thanked Guinness World Records for the attention to Lara Croft and the high appreciation of her cultural significance.
And we remind you that a new Tomb Raider game is currently being developed, but due to the third wave of layoffs this year at Crystal Dynamics and the Virtual closure of Amazon's game division, its fate is causing concern among many.
A similar situation is with the series from Amazon MGM Studios — it was announced and they even named the lead role performer, but so far that’s where things stand.
