More and more information is appearing in the media about the series based on Assassin's Creed.

A couple of days ago it became known that one of the main roles in the series based on Ubisoft's key franchise will be played by Toby Wallace — the actor is known to the public for his roles in the series “Euphoria” and the movie “Bikeriders”. And now the setting of the media project has been revealed.

What is known

The portal Nexus Point News shared exclusive information that the events of the Netflix adaptation of Assassin's Creed will unfold in ancient Rome, and the plot will focus on Emperor Nero and his mentor Seneca the Younger. Based on this information, it can be concluded that the story will be about the period of 54-68 AD.

It is noted that the events of the Assassin's Creed games have never before moved to the Roman Empire, although in the second part of the series, gamers found themselves in 15th-century Italy.

Showrunners of the series will be Roberto Patino — co-author of “Westworld” — and David Wiener, who worked on the series Halo. The chairs of executive producers were taken by Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, Austin Dill, and Matt O’Toole.

Previously, it was stated that the Assassin’s Creed series will tell viewers the familiar story of the confrontation between assassins and Templars (or rather, the organizations that preceded them) and will be done in the genre of a tense thriller. In the meantime, fans of the series can only hope that the series will be better than the failed full-length movie that came out in 2016.

The premiere date of the series is not yet available, but filming will begin in early 2026 in Italy.
