Insider names exact release date of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake and predicts its showcase at TGA 2025
Renowned insider Tom Henderson continues to share information about the long-awaited remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.
Last week, he stated that the updated game, which was announced back in 2020, is set to be released in mid-January 2026, and now Henderson has named the exact date.
What is known
During an Insider Gaming podcast, Henderson expressed confidence that the release of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will take place on January 16, 2026.
According to him, publisher Ubisoft will reveal the game's release date at the biggest show of the year — The Game Awards 2025.
The Game Awards is perfect for this. Unless they want to miss this event and don't want their announcement to get lost among all the big announcements.
However, another equally respected insider NateTheHate doubts the accuracy of Henderson's information and believes that the remake of The Sands of Time will not be showcased at TGA, although Ubisoft has previously published a corresponding poster, which was later removed from their social media channels.
There is speculation that the revamped version of The Sands of Time will be released without prior announcements and marketing campaigns, similar to how Bethesda handled The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered in April. However, Ubisoft has not used such a tactic before, and Henderson's assumption seems the most plausible.
Well, The Game Awards will take place early morning on December 12 (European time), so we will soon find out which insider is right.
For those unaware
Let's remind you that after Ubisoft's India division completely failed in updating the cult adventure action game, the development of the remake was assigned to Ubisoft Montreal's central office, which had to create the game "from scratch" since their colleagues' work left no chance for success, and the first trailer was so terrible that only the lazy didn't criticize it, leading to its removal from all official channels.
