These portable consoles have never been seen before: Ayaneo Next 2 will get a 115 Wh battery, large OLED screen, and powerful AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor
When the Chinese company Ayaneo introduced the portable console Next 2, we half-jokingly wrote that 'Steam Deck is in panic'. However, now the manufacturer has revealed detailed technical specifications of the gadget and it became clear that our joke was actually not a joke, and the popular device from Valve will indeed have another serious competitor.
What is known
Ayaneo has published details of the Next 2 that were not known before, and they are truly impressive.
As already announced, Ayaneo Next 2 will receive a powerful AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor with 16 Zen 5 cores, 32 threads, built-in Radeon 8060S graphics with 40 RDNA 3.5 units, and an XDNA 2 neural engine. This chipset will provide performance comparable to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, which is an incredible achievement for a portable gadget.
The console will be equipped with a 9” OLED display with a resolution of 2400×1504 pixels, a refresh rate of 165 Hz, and a peak brightness of up to 1100 nits — these indicators are also impressive. But even more attention deserves the battery — its capacity will be 115 Wh (!!!), and such figures are rare even for top laptops.
The novelty will become Ayaneo's first device on Windows — until now only Android was used exclusively.
Another surprise from Ayaneo is LPDDR5X RAM up to 128 GB, with speeds up to 8000 MT/s (in the maximum configuration).
Ayaneo promises a powerful cooling system with two fans, allowing users not to worry about the console overheating. The control features an exclusive TMR joystick, linear Hall effect triggers, a floating 8-way D-pad, and dual smart touchpads.
With such "insides," there's only one question left: how much will the Ayaneo Next 2 cost? But this information, like the timing of the portable console's sales start, remains undisclosed.
