The series based on God of War excites fans of the franchise with both interest and concern. However, after Amazon released a successful adaptation of Fallout, the public's mood improved somewhat, and now, with the shooting team known, there is a reasonable hope for a quality series.

What is known

Amazon has begun pre-production of the God of War series and, according to the Deadline portal, the director of the first two episodes is the showrunner of the successful series "Shogun" (Szōgun), the director of several episodes of "Westworld", Fallout and the series The Boys—Emmy Award winner Frederick E.O. Toye.

The series is being created in close cooperation with Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios. Ronald D. Moore will serve as showrunner and executive producer, and the writing team includes:

  • Matthew Graham ("Electric Dreams");
  • Stephanie Shannon ("For All Mankind");
  • Narendra K. Shankar (The Expanse);
  • Joe Menosky ("Star Trek: Discovery");
  • Marc D. Bernardin ("The Continental");
  • Tania Lotia ("The Witcher").

Casting has already taken place in Vancouver, and filming is scheduled to begin in March 2026.

Viewers can expect a two-season series based on the plot of God of War (2018), focusing on the relationship between the Greek God of War Kratos and his son Atreus, as they must climb to the highest mountain of the Nine Realms to scatter the ashes of the boy's mother—Faye.

It is not yet known when the premiere of God of War will take place.
