Philips Monitors announced the innovative ENIA 27M2N5500XD display, which became the world's first monitor with a refresh rate of up to 1000 Hz. The novelty is aimed at eSports athletes and those who value maximum refresh rate.

What is Known

The monitor is equipped with a 27” panel, supporting two operating modes: 500 Hz at QHD resolution (2560×1440) and 1000 Hz at Full HD (1920×1080). The response time is just 1 ms (GtG), and the static contrast ratio reaches 2000:1. The device is VESA DisplayHDR 400 certified, provides accurate color reproduction (Delta E < 2), and supports low input lag.

For user convenience, Philips added features for reducing harmful blue light, a built-in crosshair for games, and an ergonomic stand with tilt and height adjustment. Connection is made via DisplayPort, ensuring stable operation at extreme frequencies.

Compared to traditional gaming monitors (240–360 Hz), the ENIA 27M2N5500XD opens a new era in the display industry. However, to achieve a record 1000 Hz, the resolution has to be reduced to Full HD, making the model more of an image product for eSports rather than a mass solution.

However, it is worth noting that many competitive gaming enthusiasts deliberately lower graphic settings to a minimum, so visual effects do not distract from important moments in a match, so reducing resolution to Full HD will not scare them.

The price and release date of the Philips ENIA 27M2N5500XD have not yet been specified.
