Samsung's Ballie Assistant Robot Delayed: Company Once Again Postpones Release Indefinitely
Samsung introduced the cute assistant robot Ballie back in 2020 and promised in the spring of this year that the device would go on sale in the summer. However, not only did the release of Ballie not happen, but it has been postponed indefinitely once again.
What is known
Samsung representatives confirmed that the Ballie sphere robot is not ready for release, and at the moment the company cannot provide specific timelines.
In a comment to TechRadar, a Korean company employee noted that the development team continues to improve Ballie to add more capabilities and enhance the robot's functionality. However, journalists have not received an answer to the question of whether the issue lies in software or if the complexity is related to the robot's components.
Recall that Ballie is a home assistant robot created in collaboration with Google and also supports Gemini AI, which will allow the device to communicate with the owner, provide advice, and tips. With the help of a projector, it can display text messages on a wall and also has a microphone, camera, and speaker.
The gadget can control the “Smart Home” via Samsung SmartThings.
Such a device functionality may be limited for now, but it will definitely entertain children and pets.
