For several years in a row, Nothing holds a competition and invites designers and enthusiasts to demonstrate their vision of smartphone design for the British brand. One winner is determined in the Community Edition, their idea is implemented in a small batch of devices, and a cash prize of €1000 and official recognition of their design ideas become a pleasant bonus.

What is known

This year, Nothing introduced the Phone (3a) Community Edition — a limited version of the sub-flagship.

The design of the body, packaging, interface, and accessories was developed with the participation of more than 700 members of the Nothing community, but the winner was designer Emre Kayganacı. He drew inspiration from the aesthetics of gadgets from the late 90s and early 2000s. Transparent elements and bright accents make the device the most "nostalgic" product of Nothing.

The Community Edition adds new color schemes, wallpapers, and UI elements selected by the community. This makes the model not just "repainted" but truly personalized.

In terms of characteristics, the new version of Phone (3a) does not differ from the standard one and has a 6.77” AMOLED screen, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a 5000 mAh battery with fast charging, and a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset. The device is available only in a configuration of 12 GB of RAM + 256 GB of storage.

Nothing will release only 1000 units of the Nothing Phone (3a) Community Edition worldwide. In some countries, sales will start on December 13 at a price of about $300.
