BMW electric vehicle drivers in the US have gained access to part of the Tesla Supercharger fast charging network, using the North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector. Thus, BMW has become the 15th automaker whose cars can charge at these stations.

What's known

The support does not apply to all Tesla charging stations, only the more modern Superchargers compatible with NACS for third-party brands. Older stations cannot be used, so BMW owners are advised to check the compatibility of the charging point in advance. The German brand has not yet released its own NACS adapter: the branded adapter is promised only in the second quarter of 2026, and until then, drivers can use third-party NACS–CCS1 adapters at their own risk.

The BMW i4 electric vehicles (2022–2026 models), i5 (2024–2025 years, as well as 2026 i5 versions in eDrive40 and xDrive40 versions after the software update in spring 2026), i7 (2023–2026 years), and iX (2022–2025 years, as well as all 2026 iX versions after the software update in spring 2026) can charge at the Supercharger. To work with the Tesla network, owners of these vehicles need to use the Tesla app.

In addition to BMW, the NACS connector standard and access to Supercharger have already been adopted by Audi, Genesis, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Lucid, Mercedes‑Benz, Nissan, Polestar, Subaru, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo.
