The company Disney accused Google of massive copyright infringement by using protected materials to train artificial intelligence tools. This was reported by Variety with reference to a cease and desist letter sent by Disney lawyers to Google.

What is Known

Among the examples are AI-generated images with characters from "Deadpool", "Moana", "Star Wars" and other Disney franchises. The company demands that Google implement mechanisms to prevent similar infringements in the future.

This is not Disney's first similar complaint: in September, a similar letter was received by Character.AI, and now the corporation is suing Hailuo and Midjourney.

Disputes over intellectual property protection are intensifying due to the rapid development of generative AI. Meanwhile, on the same day, Disney announced a licensing agreement with OpenAI, which allows the use of company characters in the Sora video generator. As part of the agreements, Disney also invests $1 billion in OpenAI with the possibility of further expanding participation.
