Gamers no longer need to speculate about the return of Leon Kennedy in the new horror Resident Evil Requiem. At The Game Awards 2025, Capcom presented an extensive trailer that answered all the questions.

What is known

Yes, Leon Kennedy will appear in Resident Evil Requiem and he will become the second main character.

As explained by show host Geoff Keighley, Japanese developers divided Requiem's gameplay into two conditional parts: levels featuring FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft are built on the principles of a classic survival horror. The heroine is almost unable to use weapons, quickly gets tired, and cannot withstand many monster attacks. Episodes featuring Leon Kennedy are more action-oriented and may remind players of Resident Evil IV in style, where Kennedy was the central character. He is an experienced and well-trained fighter, for whom it is not difficult to fight even the most dangerous creatures.

In Requiem, players will be able to freely switch between first-person and third-person views, part of the game's events will unfold on the ruins of Raccoon City, and the Umbrella Corporation will once again be involved in the plot.

When to expect

The release of Resident Evil Requiem will take place on February 27, 2026, on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Switch 2.
