Threads follows the path of Reddit: Meta expands communities and intensifies competition with X
The Threads social network from Meta has added over 100 new communities. In total, there are already more than 200. Thus, the company intensifies competition with Reddit and X. The new topics include fan spaces for NBA teams, such as Lakers Threads, Knicks Threads, and Spurs Threads, as well as discussions of books, series, and music.
What is known
Communities first appeared on the platform in October. They are created to unite users by interests. Now Meta is implementing additional features. For example, Threads is testing "flairs." These are labels that appear under a user's name within a community. In the NBA topic, you can indicate which team you support, and in the book topic, specify that you are an author.
Meta is also testing the Champion feature. It is granted to the most active participants who have many followers and regularly participate in discussions. Currently, it is an experimental feature received by only a few users.
Threads is rapidly developing. In August, the platform surpassed the mark of over 400 million registered users. More than 150 million people visit it daily. To retain the audience, the company continues to introduce new features, including personal messages, group chats, temporary posts, and other interaction tools.
