Fans of Call of Duty have long been asking Activision to release something fresh and unconventional, and in a couple of years their wish might come true — the company will launch a new sub-series.

What is known

The insider GhostOfHope, who often shares reliable information, reported that in 2027 the first game of a new Call of Duty sub-series will be released.

The shooter is being developed by Sledgehammer Games and will not be related to either Modern Warfare or Black Ops. The events will unfold in the late 90s — early 2000s, focusing on new characters, and major changes in gameplay are expected.

Details of the game are not yet available, but the developers may bring back the Omnimovement system, which debuted in Black Ops 6, but without a tactical sprint.

Interestingly, preliminary data suggests that for the first time in many years Call of Duty 2027 will be released without a Zombies mode, which has become an integral part of the franchise.

Recall, a few days ago TheGhostOfHope reported that in 2026 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will be released, whose multiplayer will become “an exact copy of Modern Warfare 2 (2022)” — which is considered one of the worst parts.
