Anthropic has made its Claude plugin available for the Google Chrome browser to all paying users, not just subscribers of the Max plan for $200 per month. The plugin allows the model to perform actions in the browser, such as following links, filling forms, managing calendar and email.

What is known

The new version adds integration with Claude Code – a tool for writing code. Users can create their own interaction scripts with the website and "teach" Claude to repeat them when needed. The plugin can also perform multi-step tasks, such as filling forms or initiating certain online processes.

The functionality of Claude in the browser is based on the "computer use" approach – AI's ability to understand and interact with interfaces. These capabilities have become part of a broader trend of creating agents – digital assistants with access to tools in the real environment.

Similar features are also implemented in other services, including ChatGPT Atlas and Comet by Perplexity. In Google Chrome, only interaction with page content is available from Gemini, without full-fledged browser management. However, within Project Mariner, the company has already demonstrated the relevant features.
