More and more information continues to emerge about the series based on the Assassin's Creed game franchise, which was announced back in 2020, but only now active preparations for filming have started.

What is known

We already know that Toby Wallace, known to the public for his roles in the series 'Euphoria' and the film 'Bikeriders', will play one of the main roles in the series. He will be joined by Lola Petticrew, Zachary Hart, and Laura Marcus.

Undoubtedly, talented actors are crucial for a good series, but without a competent director, nothing will come out. And it seems the producers of 'Assassin's Creed' have made an excellent choice, as this position will be taken by Swedish director Johan Renck — he directed the hit mini-series 'Chernobyl' for HBO and several episodes of the cult series 'Breaking Bad'.

It is still unknown whether Johan Renck will direct all episodes or only a few.

It should be noted, according to rumors, the events of Netflix's 'Assassin's Creed' adaptation will unfold in ancient Rome, focusing on Emperor Nero and his mentor Seneca the Younger. Based on this information, it can be concluded that the story will be set in the period of 54-68 AD.

The showrunners will be Roberto Patino, co-creator of 'Westworld' and David Wiener, who worked on the 'Halo' series. Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, Austin Dill, and Matt O'Toole have taken on the roles of executive producers.

Previously, it was stated that the 'Assassin’s Creed' series will tell viewers a familiar story of the conflict between Assassins and Templars (or rather, the organizations that preceded them) and will be crafted as an intense thriller.

The premiere dates for the series are not yet available, but filming will start in early 2026 in Italy.
