Soon Gmail users will be able to change their primary email address. According to Google support in Hindi, the new feature is gradually being rolled out to all users. It will allow replacing the existing @gmail.com address with a new one, while the old one will remain active as an alias, and all account data will remain unchanged.

What is known

The information was first noticed on the Google Pixel forum in Telegram and later confirmed by the 9to5Google portal. The English version of the support page currently states that changing the Gmail address is impossible, so the company has not officially announced the launch of the feature yet.

Until now, Google has only allowed changing addresses that do not end with @gmail.com. Now, likely, a wider range of users will have access.

To check if the feature is available, you need to log into your Google account and go to:

  • Account Management
  • Personal Information
  • Google Account Email Address

If the option is not yet available, you will have to wait.
