Fresh reports from South Korea indicate that the graphics card market is expecting a serious price increase. According to Newsis sources, major GPU manufacturers Nvidia and AMD are planning to revise the cost of their GPUs in the coming months. The reasons cited are the rising cost of DRAM memory and its shortage amidst the growing needs of data centers for AI development and support.

What is known

According to the leak, AMD will be the first to begin adjusting its price lists — as early as January 2026. Nvidia will follow the competitor a month later — in February. The changes will affect current generations of graphics cards: Nvidia GeForce RTX 50 (Blackwell) and AMD Radeon RX 9000 (RDNA 4). Moreover, this is not a one-time jump — manufacturers plan to index prices monthly.

RTX 5090 could become the most expensive gaming graphics card in history. Forecasts suggest that the price of Nvidia's flagship could reach $5000, which is 2.5 times higher than the starting recommended price of $2000. If the forecasts are confirmed, the PC components market will face an unprecedented price increase, especially in the premium segment.
