The crisis has reached ASUS: in a few days the company will raise prices for its computers
Asus has announced an imminent price increase for its computers. As with most similar news of the past month, this decision is related to the rapid rise in prices for RAM and SSDs.
What's known
Starting January 5, 2026, Asus will begin a phased price increase for its products. This will affect both consumer computers and corporate Frameworks.
The company has not yet disclosed how much prices will increase, but previously Dell had announced a similar decision, and for some models, the increase reaches 30%.
It is likely the same situation will occur with ASUS, and it is also possible that the company will adjust prices monthly, as Nvidia and AMD plan to do.
ASUS management predicts that issues in the RAM and storage market will continue at least until mid-2027, after which prices will begin to gradually decrease. As a reminder, by early November, DRAM prices had risen by 171% and continue to grow, while NAND memory costs had increased by 246% by mid-December.
The TrendForce analytical agency notes that due to the global DRAM shortage and sharp price increases for computers, sales are expected to drop significantly. Thus, laptop shipments will fall by 5.4–10.1% year-on-year.
