Garmin has released a new beta version 16.14 firmware for the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970 smartwatches. The update brings a number of minor but significant changes, including improvements to the Morning Report feature, new visual elements, and bug fixes.

What is known

A new option for always-on display watch faces has appeared in the update. Now, seconds can be displayed on them. A visual designation for selected sports teams has also been added. They are marked with a star.

Morning Report is a morning report on body condition and activity level. The feature has been improved for users who go diving.

Other improvements:

  1. Golfers can now save their own goals for the courses.
  2. The vibration has been removed when opening the volume menu — Garmin did not explain the reasons.
  3. Fixed bugs that caused the watch to reboot when swimming or changing music provider.
  4. Bugs related to Garmin Coach, the timer in strength workouts, and the inability to change the volume after turning it off have been resolved.

The update is available for manual download to users registered in the Garmin Beta Program. To update, go to:

  • Main Menu
  • Settings
  • System
  • Software Update
  • Check For Updates

The current price of the Forerunner 970 is from $650 on Amazon.
