Major Problems Battlefield 6: Shooter Lost 80% of Players on Steam, and Its Rating is Rapidly Declining

The release of Battlefield 6 was the most successful in the series — in the first week more than 7 million copies were sold, peak online on Steam almost reached 750 thousand players, and the new shooter from Electronic Arts received immense media attention.

However, as experts noted, for any service game, initial success is not decisive, as such projects must retain the audience and generate revenue for several years.

Unfortunately, Battlefield 6 failed to keep the attention of most gamers and just a couple of months after release, there is a massive user outflow.

What is known

According to open Steam statistics, by the beginning of 2026, the average online Battlefield 6 dropped by 80%: from a peak of 750 thousand to a daily figure of 98 thousand players, which, we note, is still a decent figure for most shooters. But for comparison, another high-profile shooter ARC Raiders lost only 10% of players by the beginning of 2026.

Moreover, gamers are actively lowering the rating of Battlefield 6 and it has already dropped to "Mixed" status (52% positive reviews).

Highlighting the main reason for the decline in interest in Battlefield 6 is difficult because players complain about various aspects: weak content support, constant appearance of new bugs and technical problems, violation of the developer's promise not to use generative AI, and aggressive monetization.

Undoubtedly, Electronic Arts and its studios need to save Battlefield 6, but after the death of the franchise leader Vince Zampella, it will be incredibly difficult. Meanwhile, gamers agree: the second season of Battlefield 6 will either fix the situation or bury the game once and for all.
