Insider: Ninja Theory has started active work on the third part of Hellblade
Both parts of Hellblade cannot be called commercially successful games, but they are unique media products that captivate with their atmosphere, unconventional narrative, and frighteningly realistic portrayal of the visions of a mentally unstable person.
In 2024, the British studio Ninja Theory released Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II — the action received the highest praises from critics, but remained unnoticed by most gamers. It seemed that the story of the series would end there since Microsoft is rapidly cutting investments in the gaming division, but great news has arrived for Hellblade fans.
What is known
In the Xbox Two podcast, authoritative insider and Windows Central portal editor Jez Corden announced that Ninja Theory has started active development of Hellblade 3.
Notably, the developers plan to make the new game more interactive and action-filled, which makes sense since many players complained that both parts of Hellblade are more like a movie where they occasionally have to press buttons. However, it is possible that such a decision may not benefit the overall narrative of the series.
Knowing the pace of Ninja Theory's work, it is unlikely that we can expect the release of Hellblade 3 before the beginning of the next decade.

In the same podcast, Corden also shared information that Ninja Theory has frozen the development of the conceptual psychological horror Project Mara. According to him, it was initially developed as a technical concept, and the authors doubted it would reach full production. However, there is no talk of a complete cancellation of Project Mara yet.
