A demo of the ambitious mystical horror The Occultist is out on Steam
There haven't been any news about the ambitious mystical horror The Occultist for a long time, and finally, the developers from DALOAR studio broke the silence and not only reminded us about their game with a new trailer but also invited gamers to try it out themselves.
What is known
The creators released a demo version of The Occultist, which is available only on Steam, and it takes about 40 minutes to complete.
The demo will be available until January 19.
The events of the free section unfold at the beginning of the story when the protagonist named Alan Rebels arrives at the old mansion on Godstone Island, where he hopes to uncover the mystery of his father's disappearance by using a magical pendulum to interact with spirits and other supernatural entities and even alter reality.
Those who are interested in the game but cannot play the demo themselves can watch a video walkthrough:
The gameplay of The Occultist looks traditional for horrors of this format: players need to explore the rooms and corridors of the ominous house, avoid encounters with ghosts and automatons, solve puzzles, and try to understand the reasons for the events occurring.
Graphically, The Occultist somewhat lags behind the top games of its genre, but thanks to its dense atmosphere and the skillful work of artists and game designers, it can become an interesting release for horror fans.
Recall that the protagonist will be voiced by actor Doug Cockle, known as the voice of Geralt from the The Witcher series of games.
When to expect
Unfortunately, the exact release date of the game is still unknown, but it is expected that The Occultist will be released in 2026 on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
