The new Renault Filante crossover was developed through the joint efforts of Renault Technocentre in France, Renault Design Center Seoul, and Renault Korea. It is a global model, but it will not be introduced in Europe.

What is known

The name Filante refers to the Renault speed record prototypes of the same name, and the emblem in the form of a stylized star revives the symbol used on the brand's premium models in the 1930s. With this model, Renault aims to achieve greater success in the premium segment than with previous experiments like the Vel Satis.

The model is based on the CMA platform from Geely Group. The car's length is 4,915 mm, and its wheelbase is 2,820 mm, making it the longest Renault in the current model range. It surpasses the dimensions of the Austral, Espace, and Rafale in Europe, as well as the Grand Koleos sold in South Korea.

Externally, the Filante is distinguished by its massive front end with modern LED optics, streamlined silhouette, and sculpted rear end.

In the interior, a panoramic unit of three 12.3-inch screens, combined into the OpenR Panorama Screen system, draws attention. It is complemented by a 25.6-inch augmented reality head-up display. The interface is noticeably different from European Renault models, although the multimedia system is also based on Google's Android Automotive.

Depending on the configuration, Arkamys or Bose audio systems, a panoramic roof, and three-zone climate control are available. The trunk volume is 654 liters.

Like the Grand Koleos, the Filante is built on the CMA platform developed by Geely Group. This architecture is also used in the Volvo XC40, Polestar 2, as well as Geely and Lynk & Co. models.

The powertrain is the Renault E-Tech 250 hybrid system, which combines a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine, two electric motors, a three-speed DHT Pro automatic transmission, and a 1.64 kWh battery. The total power is 250 hp (184 kW), and the torque is 565 Nm. Filante is not offered with internal combustion engine versions only.

Production will start at Renault's plant in Busan, South Korea. Sales are scheduled to begin in March 2026. Prices will be announced closer to the start of sales.

Exports will begin in 2027 — the model will appear in countries of South America (Colombia, Chile, Uruguay) and the Persian Gulf. Europe is not on this list: Renault confirmed that the brand's flagship on the home market will remain the Rafale coupe-crossover.
