Mentra presents its first open-source smart glasses with its own app store
The company Mentra is preparing to enter the smart glasses market with the Mentra Live model. The device supports an open operating system with an SDK available for developers since the beginning of 2025. But the main innovation is its own MiniApp Store for applications, which is available on iOS and Android.
What is known
Mentra claims that this is the first app store of its kind for smart glasses. It allows downloading mini-apps like notes or even a "chess assistant" that uses the camera and AI to suggest the next move.

Mentra Live is equipped with a MediaTek MTK8766 chip, a 12-megapixel camera with a 119° field of view, support for HD video and streaming on YouTube, X, Twitch, and Instagram. There are three microphones, stereo speakers, and support for calls via WhatsApp, FaceTime, etc.
The glasses weigh only 43 g, have autonomy of over 12 hours, and a 2200 mAh charging case ensuring an additional 50+ hours of operation. The model is compatible with prescription lenses. The price is $300. The first batch of 1000 units will be delivered on February 15. The second wave of deliveries is expected later in the first quarter.
