Capcom conducted an extensive gameplay demonstration of Resident Evil Requiem — gamers can expect a really cool horror
Capcom held a detailed gameplay presentation of one of the most anticipated games of 2026 — Resident Evil Requiem. The public was shown fragments from various moments in the game with commentary from game director Koshi Nakanishi.
What is known
The first thing that stands out is the excellent graphics and high detailing. All objects in the game look as lifelike as possible, zombies are terrifying, and the characters are pleasant to look at.
The game director confirmed that Requiem was originally created exclusively as a game about Leon Kennedy, but later the authors decided to show the story from two sides and introduced FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft into the plot. As a result, the episodes with Grace are built on the principle of classic survival horror: the heroine is practically unable to use weapons, quickly gets tired, and cannot withstand many monster attacks, so she prefers to hide from them, but in extreme cases can stand up for herself.
Episodes with Leon are more like action and may remind players of Resident Evil IV, where Kennedy was the central character. He is an experienced and well-trained fighter for whom defeating even the most dangerous creatures is not difficult. To make the game even more interesting, Requiem added more brutal finishers that depend on the chosen weapon. The DSO agent can use various items in the fight against mutants, including a chainsaw and a hatchet.
Interestingly, many zombies have not completely lost remnants of humanity, so some of them may hopelessly look in the mirror or bang their heads against the wall, which the player can take advantage of to eliminate them.
In Requiem, players can freely switch between first and third person views, part of the game's events will unfold in the ruins of Raccoon City 30 years after the city was destroyed by bombings.
When to expect
The release of Resident Evil Requiem will take place on February 27, 2026, on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Switch 2.
