Tesla Cybertruck sales in 2025 plummeted more than any other electric vehicle in the US

According to Cox Automotive, after a strong first full year in the market in 2024, demand cooled sharply, showing how quickly initial interest can wane when a model goes beyond the circle of early buyers.

What is known

In 2024, 38,965 units of the Tesla Cybertruck were sold in the US, while in 2025, only 20,237 vehicles were sold. The drop was 48.1% or 18,728 vehicles year-on-year. The decline was particularly sharp at the end of the year: only 4,140 vehicles were sold in the fourth quarter of 2025, which is 68.1% less than the same period in 2024.

The Cybertruck still stands out among other models, but its uniqueness over time limits the circle of potential buyers. As the number of vehicles on the roads grows, practical compromises have become more noticeable, especially in difficult weather conditions. Amidst increased competition and more attractive offerings from rivals, the novelty factor quickly lost its significance.

However, the decline in sales does not mean that the model completely failed. The Cybertruck received high safety ratings, and the driver assistance systems are still considered one of Tesla's strong arguments.

Nevertheless, even good safety results and impressive technologies do not guarantee stable demand if the price, everyday practicality, and public perception work against the model. As Cox Automotive notes, by the fourth quarter of 2025, it became clear that the hype period around the Cybertruck had ended.
