The revival of the Opel Manta sports model is delayed at least until the early 2030s. In the coming years, the brand's priority is given to mass models.

What is known

The plans of the company were shared by Opel's head Florian Huettl in an interview with Der Spiegel. According to him, the Manta project still exists and is already at the design level, but none of these versions will enter the market before 2030. It was previously assumed that the Manta would return in the middle of this decade as an electric vehicle. As a hint at the production model, Opel showed the electric Manta A concept, which was conceived as an 'emotional warm-up' before the launch of the new version.

Within the Stellantis group, Opel has revised its medium-term priorities. Now, the brand's priority is the renewal of key mass models, primarily the compact Corsa and crossovers. The sixth generation Opel Corsa has been produced since 2019 and underwent a facelift in mid-2023. In 2026, the lineup will be complemented by a GSE version with an electric motor of 207 kW. The Mokka crossover entered the market in 2021, was updated in 2024, and from the end of 2025, it will be available in a more powerful electric version Mokka GSE.

New generations of Corsa and Mokka are expected to appear within the next 18 months, while the return of the iconic Manta remains a project for the more distant future.
