Xiaomi has introduced new Kids Watch — smartwatches created especially for children and focused on safety, easy communication, and parental control.

The novelty combines GPS positioning, video calls, and long operating time, making the device a complete tool for communication between the child and parents.

What is known

The smartwatches are equipped with accurate AI positioning, which uses GPS, Wi-Fi, LBS, and motion sensors. Parents can track the child's location in real-time, set "safe zones," and receive notifications about entering or leaving them. The tracking is conducted not only within the building but also captures the specific floor. Additionally, the Shoot-to-position feature is supported: during a video call, the parent can see the child's surroundings, enhancing the level of control and safety.

Xiaomi Kids Watch also offers video calls, family group chats, and easy management through the Xiaomi Kids App.

Xiaomi has implemented additional safety features, including notifications about the child's arrival at school, location history, and an emergency call with a single button press.

The watches are equipped with a 1.75” AMOLED display with a resolution of 390 x 450 pixels, have 1 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of internal memory. Fast charging is supported, with the battery charge reaching 50% in about 30 minutes. The built-in 740 mAh battery ensures long operation with the possibility of extension through a special mode.

Kids Watch provides a flip-up 8 MP camera, and a 5 MP camera on the front panel of the watch for video calls and selfies.

The gadget offers sports modes and health status tracking.

Xiaomi Kids Watch will go on sale from January 27, currently only in China, but a global release is likely to follow soon. The cost of the watch is stated to be at the level of $200 (converted from yuan).
