Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake canceled — Ubisoft made a radical decision

Ubisoft announced a radical and unexpected decision — the much-maligned remake of the iconic adventure action Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is canceled.

What is known

The company announced that it made the difficult decision and abandoned further work on the game, which was announced back in 2020.

Notably, insiders predicted the remake's release for mid-January 2026, and Ubisoft assured that development was continuing at a great pace and the revamped The Sands of Time would offer “a new take on the famous story.”

Recall that after the Indian division of Ubisoft completely failed to update Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, the development of the remake was assigned to Ubisoft Montréal's central office, which had to create the game “from scratch” because their colleagues' work left no chance for success, and the first trailer was so appalling that no one criticized it except the lazy, and it was removed from all official channels.
