Garmin released the Tactix 8 Cerakote Edition smartwatch for military, rescuers, and specialists working in extreme conditions
Garmin released the Tactix 8 Cerakote Edition — a new version of its flagship tactical smartwatch designed for military, rescuers, and specialists working in extreme conditions. The main distinction of the model is the ceramic-polymer Cerakote coating, applied by spraying and baking. It increases the case's resistance to abrasion, corrosion, and chemical impact while acquiring a unique texture over time.
What is known
The watch has a 51-mm case, 1.4” AMOLED display, sapphire glass, and titanium bezel. The built-in LED flashlight helps in low-light conditions, and the autonomy reaches 29 days in smartwatch mode, which is crucial for long missions.
The model is available in two colors — Slate Grey and Olive Drab, which emphasize its professional focus.
The tactical features include:
- Jumpmaster mode for parachuting,
- Stealth Mode, which disables wireless modules while continuing to record biometric data without saving geolocation,
- Compatibility with night vision devices and equipped with Applied Ballistics Ultralight ballistic calculator for shooting calculations,
- Gear weight tracking,
- Multi-band GPS with SatIQ technology.
When connected to iOS and Android smartphones, the watch supports calls, notifications, and Garmin Pay contactless payments.
Garmin Tactix 8 Cerakote Edition supports a wide range of training modes and is water-resistant up to 40 meters, suitable for diving and freediving. It features heart rate and SpO2 sensors, GPS, compass, altimeter, and sleep monitoring.
The Tactix 8 Cerakote Edition is now available in the US and Europe for $/€1600.
