Garmin has initiated the rollout of a new beta update for several of its flagship smartwatches: Fenix 8, Fenix E, Enduro 3, and Tactix 8. The firmware version 21.18 fixes two issues, including a critical problem related to the heart rate variability (HRV) chart.

What is known

Users complained that the HRV chart could crash during interaction. This error has been corrected. The Garmin Messenger app performance has also been improved: delays during scrolling long message threads have been removed.

This is already the second update from the 21.xx branch in recent weeks. The previous, 21.17, fixed four other problems, including GPS navigation bugs. As before, the ECG, dive, and aviation features are disabled during testing.

According to the official Garmin forum, the firmware has already been received by 50% of the mentioned model users. A new navigation option is expected to be added in the stable version: users will be able to disable voice prompts for approaching turns.

Garmin Fenix 8 with AMOLED display (47 mm, orange case) is currently priced at $1,100 on Amazon.
