A Rebellion is Brewing at Ubisoft: Employees Openly Criticize Management and are Convinced of the Company's Impending Catastrophe
The gaming community continues to hotly discuss the large-scale reorganization at Ubisoft, during which the company canceled six games, including Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, postponed seven releases, closed two studios, and announced the creation of five Creative Houses that will oversee specific franchises. Additionally, according to media reports, more than 2,200 employees from various departments are at risk of layoffs.
The situation at the publisher has long been unhealthy, but now it is reaching a boiling point and could become a real catastrophe for Ubisoft.
What is Known
Respected insider Tom Henderson reported that according to his sources, a rebellion is brewing within Ubisoft. Employees are using all communication channels to openly criticize management's actions, which each year further submerge what was once Europe's most valuable gaming company into crisis, and all subsequent decisions only exacerbate the situation.
People are not afraid of layoffs because they are not worried about their place at Ubisoft, and many, not waiting for events to unfold, are looking for new jobs and boldly expressing dissatisfaction to senior management. Many in the team reasonably consider the latest reorganization the “final nail in Ubisoft’s coffin.”
Henderson emphasizes that many talented specialists work at Ubisoft and, undoubtedly, other developers will gladly take them in, while the French company will face an acute personnel shortage, which in turn, will lead to delays in the release of remaining games and a loss of their quality.
Ubisoft's short-sighted policy and a number of obviously wrong decisions have led to the company, which was worth more than €10 billion just 4 years ago, losing more than 95% of its value, and it is still far from coming out of the crisis.
