Apple released a big update package that surprised the public because, besides current devices, it also affects two legendary but already outdated iPhone models.

What is known

It concerns the iPhone 5s and iPhone 6, which were released in 2013, as well as other devices with the 12th version of the OS.

They haven't received new features, but iOS 12.5.8 extends the security certificates necessary for iMessage, FaceTime, and device activation. Now these features are guaranteed to work at least until January 2027.

It's unlikely that many users still have such smartphones in working condition, but it is pleasing that Apple supports even such old devices.
