Sony and Amazon Found Odin and Thor for the God of War Adaptation
Sony Pictures and Amazon MGM Studios have revealed two more actors who will play crucial roles in the God of War series adaptation.
This time, the film companies announced who will portray Kratos' two main enemies — Odin and his son Thor.
What is known
The role of Odin — also known as the Allfather and King of the Aesir — went to Mandy Patinkin. Viewers know him from one of the central roles in the spy thriller "Homeland." Odin portrays himself as a feeble and kind old man, but he is the most powerful of the Norse gods and will stop at nothing to prevent Ragnarok by any means.
The role of Thor in God of War will be played by Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, who starred in the series "True Detective" and "Friends and Neighbors." Thor possesses colossal physical strength and harbors intense hatred for Kratos for deeds we won't describe to avoid spoilers.
Let's recall, the main star of God of War will be Ryan Hurst ("Sons of Anarchy" and "Saving Private Ryan") — he will play the role of Kratos.
Ronald D. Moore serves as the showrunner and executive producer.
The filming of the series is scheduled to start in March 2026.
Viewers can expect a two-season series based on the plot of God of War (2018), centered on the relationship between the Greek God of War Kratos and his son Atreus, who are set to climb the highest mountain to scatter the ashes of the boy's mother — Faye.
It is currently unknown when the premiere of God of War will take place.
