Insider: Authors of the biggest game flop of 2025 MindsEye found those responsible, and it's not them!
Gamers will long remember the spectacular failure of MindsEye — a heavily promoted crime action game from the studio Build a Rocket Boy, founded by former Rockstar producer Leslie Benzies. MindsEye became the worst release of 2025 and was crushed by both critics and gamers.
A few months before the game's release, it became known that its publisher would be the Danish studio IO Interactive, known as the developer of Hitman. Well, it seems that this collaboration, which immediately sparked questions, has ended.
What is known
Insider Tom Henderson shared exclusive information that soon representatives of Build a Rocket Boy will announce the termination of the publishing agreement with IO Interactive, and later the studio plans to open its own publishing division to "accelerate decision-making and streamline game development."
It seems that Leslie Benzies is planning to blame his own failure on IO Interactive and also cancel the already announced crossover between MindsEye and Hitman.
Henderson emphasizes that IO Interactive is also interested in ending the collaboration to avoid further reputational and financial losses.
Recall that the head of the Danish studio, after the release of MindsEye, even stated that the company might abandon publishing activities — such was the "success" of the cooperation with Benzies.
It is worth noting that Leslie Benzies creating his own publishing division makes sense, as serious companies are unlikely to want to associate with him.
