Apple is considering creating a second foldable smartphone — this time in a form factor similar to a clamshell. This was reported by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman in the latest edition of the Power On newsletter.

What is known

We are talking about a compact iPhone that folds "like a powder compact," similar to the Samsung Galaxy Flip or Motorola Razr. Currently, the project is only at the stage of internal discussion, and its appearance on the market is not guaranteed.

It is reported that Apple is counting on the success of the first foldable iPhone, the launch of which is expected at the end of 2026. The company supposedly wants to have ideas in reserve to continue the lineup in response to potentially high demand.

The idea of a foldable iPhone is not new: previously, The Information reported that Apple had already tested prototypes of such devices. Simultaneously, the company is also exploring a larger form factor — a "book" the size of an iPad. However, according to Gurman, Apple has faced technical difficulties and may postpone the release of the large device until 2029.
