The Beginning of Disaster: Capcom Released a Short Film Trailer for Resident Evil Requiem

Capcom has released an incredibly atmospheric live-action trailer for the highly anticipated horror Resident Evil Requiem.

What's known

The Japanese developer has provided a short film about a young woman and her daughter, who were unlucky enough to be in Raccoon City on the day of the zombie virus outbreak: just yesterday they were playing and living a peaceful life, and moments later the city was overrun by horrific monsters, and those who remained sane fought fiercely for the remaining city resources.

As every Resident Evil fan knows, the US government ultimately solved the problem radically by dropping a nuclear bomb on Raccoon City, and the events of Requiem unfold on the ruins of the city 30 years after the described catastrophe.

The focus of Resident Evil Requiem will be on FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and fan favorite Leon Kennedy — an agent of the anti-bioterrorism organization. Grace's episodes resemble RE7 and are based on the classic survival horror principle: she can hardly use weapons, tires quickly, and cannot withstand many monster attacks, so she prefers to hide from them, but if necessary, she can stand up for herself.

Leon's episodes are more action-oriented and stylistically resemble Resident Evil IV, where Kennedy was the central character. He is an experienced and well-trained fighter, who can easily handle even the most dangerous creatures. To make the game even more interesting, Requiem includes more brutal finishers that depend on the chosen weapon. The DSO agent can use a variety of items in the fight against mutants, including a chainsaw and a hatchet.

When to expect

The release of Resident Evil Requiem is scheduled for February 27 on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Switch 2.
