Firefox will be able to completely disable AI features
Mozilla will add settings to Firefox that will allow users to disable all generative artificial intelligence features. The changes will appear in Firefox version 148, which will be released on February 24, 2026. This capability will initially be available in Firefox Nightly builds.
What is known
In the new AI Controls section, users will be able to manage individual features or turn them off completely. These include chatbots in the sidebar, automatic translation, generating alternative text in PDF documents, tab grouping with AI, and previewing pages with key points before following a link.
To disable all these features simultaneously, you need to activate the "Block AI enhancements" switch. This will also disable notifications about current and future AI-based tools.
Mozilla notes that additional options for managing new artificial intelligence features that may appear in future Firefox updates will appear in this section in the future.
