Switch officially recognized as Nintendo's best-selling console, while Switch 2 surprises with its sales pace

Nintendo has published a fresh financial report that contains several interesting facts confirming the grand success of the Switch consoles.

What is known

The Japanese company reported that first-generation Switch sales have reached 155.7 million units, making it the best-selling console in Nintendo's history. It surpassed the iconic DS in this regard, and to achieve the absolute record, it only needs to outperform the PS2.

As for the Switch 2, since June 2025, its sales have reached 17.37 million units, and it still remains the fastest-selling platform in most markets. It is noteworthy that in the last three months of 2025, 7.01 million consoles were sold.

Regarding games, 37.93 million games for the Switch 2 were sold in the last quarter, with Mario Kart World being the most purchased at 14.03 million copies.
