Hyundai Mobis has partnered with ZEISS, tesa, and Saint-Gobain Sekurit to develop and mass-produce holographic head-up displays (HWD). The commercial launch of the technology is planned for 2029.

What is known

The HWD uses a holographic optical element (HOE) embedded in the windshield. It enables information on movement and multimedia content to be displayed directly at the eye level of the driver and passenger without a separate screen. At the same time, the degree of light transmission exceeds 92% and brightness is 10,000 nits. The system is configured so that the driver does not see the image intended for the passenger.

Within the alliance, Hyundai Mobis is responsible for system architecture and integration, ZEISS for optical design and HOE film, tesa for holographic film replication, and Saint-Gobain Sekurit for their integration into automotive glass. The development has already received the Innovation Award at CES 2026.
