Uber Appoints Balaji Krishnamurthy as New Chief Financial Officer
Uber announced the appointment of a new chief financial officer. Instead of Prashanth Mahendra-Rajah, this position will be held by Balaji Krishnamurthy, the company's Vice President for Strategic Finance and Investor Relations. He has been with Uber for over six years and is actively involved in the development of autonomous transport.

Krishnamurthy is on the board of directors of the startup Waabi, which develops technology for driverless cars. During the announcement of fourth-quarter financial results, he confirmed that Uber will invest in its partners in the field of autonomous transport both through direct capital investments and off-take agreements, as well as support infrastructure projects for driverless transportation.
"With significant and growing free cash flows in the coming years, we will invest strategically to ensure Uber's leadership in the era of autonomous transport," said the new Chief Financial Officer.
Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi added that autonomous cars are capable of "unlocking a trillion-dollar opportunity" and significantly enhancing the company's platform. According to him, by the end of 2026, Uber plans to launch driverless rides in 15 cities worldwide, and by 2029, become the largest operator of autonomous transport routes.
Currently, Uber has over 20 partnerships in the field of autonomous transport, including Waymo, Avride, Wayve, Volkswagen, WeRide, Momenta, and others.
