At Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase, a spectacular gameplay trailer for the horror Resident Evil Requiem was shown.

What is known

The video highlights the main feature of the new part of the iconic series — the presence of two completely different characters with unique gameplay.

As repeatedly stated, the episode playthroughs for FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and the public’s favorite Leon Kennedy, who is an agent of the bioterrorism fighting organization, are radically different. Grace's gameplay resembles RE7 and is based on the principle of classic survival horror: the heroine is almost unable to use weapons, quickly tires, and cannot withstand many monster attacks, so she prefers to hide from them but can stand her ground if necessary. In turn, Leon’s levels are more action-like and can stylistically remind of Resident Evil IV, where Kennedy was the central character. He is an experienced and well-trained fighter, for whom it’s not difficult to battle even the most dangerous creatures.

For Grace, it's recommended to use the first-person view, whereas for Leon — third-person, but at any moment, the camera can be changed via the settings menu.

When to expect it

The release of Resident Evil Requiem will take place on February 27, 2026, on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 2.
