When Vision Pro launches in 2024, YouTube, Netflix, and Spotify declined to release native apps, which was a significant gap in the ecosystem. Now the situation is changing.

After more than two years of waiting, Google has officially launched a full-fledged YouTube app for visionOS, making video viewing on the Apple Vision Pro AR headset significantly more convenient and feature-rich. Previously, users had to make do with viewing through Safari, which limited the platform's capabilities.

Advantages of the Native YouTube App for Vision Pro

Users have simplified access to all YouTube content, now available to them: regular videos, YouTube Shorts, 3D clips, VR180, 360° videos.

The app is available in more than 76 languages, optimized for the spatial interface of visionOS, and allows viewing videos on a huge virtual screen.

On the updated Vision Pro model with the M5 chip, playback up to 8K is available, making spatial content viewing even more impressive.

Users get the following set of YouTube features:

  • subscriptions,
  • view history,
  • playlists,
  • recommendations — just like on iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV.

To install the app, visionOS version 26 or above is required.
