Garmin may be preparing to launch a new flagship smartwatch this year. Despite the fact that the Fenix 8 Pro model appeared less than a year ago, more and more signs point to the approach of the next generation — possibly the Fenix 9.

What is known

During the announcement of the 2025 financial results, Garmin CEO Clifton Pemble stated that the company expects sales growth in the second half of 2026. This was said amid already planned releases, including the Quatix 8 Pro. Although Pemble did not directly confirm the preparation of the Fenix 9, analysts interpreted his words as an indirect signal about the launch of a new premium watch in mid-2026.

Based on previous update cycles, Garmin typically introduces new generations of the Fenix at intervals of about 14–15 months. The Fenix 8 debuted in August 2024, and the Fenix 8 Pro followed just over a year later. Thus, the timeframe for the Fenix 9 seems logical.

Specific technical details are currently unavailable. At the same time, the company previously patented an advanced digital control crown, which may indicate significant changes in the interface of the future model. Whether this will become a key feature of the Fenix 9 is still unknown.
