Due to the situation in the memory and storage market, many companies are raising prices for electronics, mobile gadgets, and other devices with these components. Gaming consoles have not yet become more expensive en masse, but market giants, such as Nintendo, are already considering this possibility.

It is known that Sony pre-purchased a huge batch of DRAM chips, and thanks to this, does not plan to raise prices for the PlayStation 5, and now this is officially confirmed.

What is known

Sony's CFO, Tao Lin, commented on the difficult situation in the global component market and confirmed that the PS5 price will remain the same, at least until the end of the next fiscal year (until April 1, 2027).

At the same time, the company will try to increase the margin of its products "by monetizing the user base and increasing revenue from software (games) and network services." It is difficult to say what is meant by such wording, but it is possible that Sony plans to increase the cost of the PS Plus subscription or, for example, hopes for the success of future service games with microtransactions (Marathon).
